On Saturday, June 11th, Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary participated in the fundraiser “Walk On The Wild Side” at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio. Two of our visiting goats started running with the 5K runners at 8am, and lasted for, oh, about a minute and a half.
Not wanting the goats to feel left out, we wanted to give them the satisfaction of crossing the finish line…with a little help from Happy Trails volunteers, Phyllis and Jake Leonhardt. We encouraged the four-some to run down the hill to the finish line and past the Metro Parks sign….and this is what happened…poor Jake!!!!

Stinky George the goat is no longer stinky after being neutered. However, he was still very shy around people. In order to get handsome George more friendly and more adoptable, Happy Trails volunteer, Jason Woldbolt, offered to foster George and work with him. We have now dubbed ourdedicated foster dad, "Jason The Goat Whisperer". Within one week, he was able to get George to stand calmly next to him, and George even allows Jason to pet him. The adorable little goat has come quite a long way in a very short time, thanks to the patience and diligence of his foster dad! Here's the video that shows how far George has come!

Also on the side of the foothill lived a hungry, lonely buffalo. Sedona. The Buffalo was safely rescued on Thursday, January 14th, thanks to the folks from The Bison Ranch in Ellsworth. Here is the video of her release to her new home. |
